About Ryan

I am a highly curious, empathetic, and knowledgeable counsellor with a rich life experience. Counselling is a unique and beautiful opportunity to help folks work with difficult and challenging thoughts, feelings, memories and life situations. Walking side by side with those in need is what counselling can be all about.

You have it within you to heal. To unearth this innate ability, a trusting relationship needs to be established in a safe and confidential setting.

Even though there are commonalities in issues people struggle with, it is vital to hear and understand the unique experiences individuals are going through and discover their personal strengths to overcome their difficulties.

  • Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia

  • Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) Certificate from the Vancouver Centre for Emotionally Focused Therapy

  • Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DELTA) from Cambridge University

  • Bachelor of Arts in History from Simon Fraser University

Approaches & Techniques:

I use a person-centred and trauma-informed approach. I believe in a bottom-up, integrated approach tailored to the individual sitting in front of me. I draw from different therapeutic models such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Polyvagal Therapy
